Woven Words: Allen Ginsberg - 'Sphincter'

Woven Words: Allen Ginsberg - 'Sphincter'

$250.00

This hanging was handwoven on a floor loom using Allen Ginsberg's poem 'Sphincter.'

The process of translating text into the weaving is something I have created by assigning threads to letters. Each horizontal line of yarn in the weaving is one translated letter- lines are woven consecutively to spell out the chosen text, and thus creates unique patterns based on the chosen words. When the piece is finished, the text is spelled out letter by letter (line of yarn by line of yarn) from the top of the piece to the bottom.

This item was created in a smoke-free home.

Light and dark pink cotton yarn (UKI mercerized)

Wooden dowel: 16 inches wide

Measurement: 12 inches wide (at widest point of weaving) x 40.5 inches long (from top of dowel).
